Keeping Your Little One Warm During Winter

Dealing with brutal winter cold can be difficult. While it may be tempting to simply stay in your home where it is nice and toasty for the entire winter, this is hardly practical for the majority of families. Even in the coldest of days, you still have to go to work, and unless your school district declares it too cold to attend school, your child still has to go to school. You may be worried about the best way to keep your little one warm during the long months of winter. Between going back and forth from the car, being outside at recess time, and playing in the snow, your child is likely to spend a lot of time in the cold outdoor air. Thankfully, there are several ways you can keep your child warm in the winter, and many of these ideas are stylish as well.

Tights

If your daughter insists on wearing a dress even in subzero temperatures, then it’s a good idea to make sure she has several pairs of good, quality tights. Finding girls tights that are warm and cute shouldn’t be hard at all, so it shouldn’t be a struggle to get your daughter to actually wear them. Because there are so many different styles and colors, it should not be hard at all to find a pair that matches almost all of your daughter’s outfits. Not only can wearing tights keep your daughter’s legs warm in the winter, it can also be a cute fashion statement. It can be fun to mix and match different outfits and accessories, so you may find that you and your daughter have more fun with it than you think you will.

Hats

People lose the majority of their body heat through their head. This is why it’s important to make sure they have a hat that will keep them nice and warm. Having one that covers all of the head, all the way down past the ears, is ideal to keep your little one’s noggin as warm and toasty as possible. Ear muffs can be helpful in keeping ears warm; however they don’t do much for the head. Sticking with hats is the best idea for making sure your child doesn’t lose body heat rapidly through their head.

Layers

Wearing layers is one of the best ways to make sure that your child stays warm. The more layers, the warmer your child will be. The great thing about layers is your child has the opportunity to adjust as necessary, he or she can take off layers when they are indoors, but can add them back on if they go back outside into the cold.

Gloves

Keeping those hands warm is important to. When the body recognizes that it is losing heat, one of the first places your body will take heat from is your hands and feet. Your feet are usually pretty decently covered with socks and shoes, but your hands need protection from the brutal cold as well. Finding a pair of waterproof gloves will help ensure you stay as warm as possible.

While the winter can bring some brutally cold days, dressing appropriately can help make it that much more tolerable.
