This is a tutorial on how you will be able to disable the autoplay feature in your computer system. Disabling autoplay will greatly help in minimizing the autorun viruses to get into your computer system, most especially in the registry portion.
For Windows XP
Go to Start Menu > click run > type: gpedit.msc > click ok
Group Policy Window will open. Click on Administrative Templates as shown below then click System.
At the right pane, scroll down, then double click Turn Off AutoPlay
Under Turn Off AutoPlay Properties, tick on “Enabled” and select “All Drives”
Click Apply and you’re done!
For Windows 7
Go to Start Menu > click run > type: gpedit.msc > click ok
Local Group Policy Editor will open, click Administrative Templates
Under Administrative Templates click Windows Components
Next, under Windows Components click Autoplay Policies
On the right hand panel, double click Turn Off AutoPlay
Turn Off Auto Play window will open
Tick on “Enabled” then choose “ All drives” in the option then click OK.
Voila! You can disable Autoplay feature by simply following the step by step instructions given above.
