Grandpa’s favorite Für Elise by Ludwig van Beethoven

I am having mixed emotions every time I hear this piece. I am happy and at the same time sad missing my dear grandpa who passed away when I was in college. He always plays and listen to Für Elise along with the other Ludwig van Beethoven’s famous musical compositions. The whole house is filled with this music daily, usually in the early mornings while he is at the kitchen cooking breakfast. He is a great fan of the deaf German composer who is a predominant musical figure in the transitional period between the Classical and Romantic eras.

I had so many beautiful memories with my grandpa. He taught me how to make seed beds, as I do gardening and planting with him in the afternoon after school. We had a big garden full of fruit trees, vegetables and ornamentals too.  He always tell me stories about the World War II when I was still a little girl and kept on advising me and teaching about so many things.

As I was watching the videos in the internet, I stumbled on this little girl playing my grandpas’s favorite piece.

Here, I will share you music full of good and happy memories. Reminiscences that will linger forever in my heart.

  1. Nung unang salta ako sa Manila, na-sad ako na yung Fur Elise ay pinatutugtog sa mga truck ng basura, lalo na kapag nagba-backing sila. Yung mga kapitbahay ko noon sa Pandacan, they didn’t know that it was a Beethoven masterpiece, basta pag naririnig daw nila, alam nila andyan na ang truck ng basura.
